Weipa Kindy has recently unveiled their new playground equipment, made possible through a grant of almost $10,000 awarded by the Queensland Country Bank Good for Good Community Grant program. The improved play area marks a significant step in providing local children with a quality and engaging environment to play and learn.
The funding has replaced the Kindy’s ageing equipment with durable, treated timber that boasts a 25-year warranty, ensuring it will benefit the community for years to come. The project demonstrates Queensland Country Bank’s commitment to supporting regional communities and investing in resources that are often difficult to secure in remote areas like Weipa.
Luke O’Day, the local Queensland Country Bank Branch Manager, recently visited Weipa Kindy to witness the impact of the grant on the community. “As a Member-owned bank, Queensland Country Bank has always been committed to giving back to our local communities who support us. This is especially important in regional communities like Weipa where funding can be hard to come by," Mr O’Day said.
“Childcare options in Weipa are limited, so ensuring kids have access to quality play equipment is incredibly important. The old equipment had reached the end of its life, and this grant has allowed them to replace it, ensuring children can continue to enjoy active and fun-filled days. The equipment is made from treated, mould-resistant timber with a 25-year warranty, so it’s built to last. It’s wonderful knowing that local kids will enjoy it for years to come."
Weipa Kindy Director, Stephanie Neil, expressed immense gratitude for the grant and what it has made possible for the not-for-profit organisation. “As a community-based, not-for-profit organisation, grants like this are vital to our ability to continue to provide high-quality resources for children and families," she said.
Queensland Country Bank’s Good for Good Community Grant program is part of the organisation’s broader commitment to giving back to local and regional Queensland communities. The bank, as a Member-owned organisation, continues to make a meaningful difference by funding and supporting projects that leave a lasting impact.
