Queensland Country Bank has taken another significant step forward in further enhancing our ability to service the business banking market with the appointment of experienced Business Banking Manager, Peter Walker.
With almost three decades of experience in the banking industry and managing a portfolio of high-valued business clients, Peter not only brings a depth of experience and knowledge, but also a strong commitment to building long lasting relationships with our Members.
“Queensland Country Bank’s commitment to relationship banking is one of the key reasons I took the position here,” says Mr Walker.
“Many other banks have taken services out of regional centres, but locals want to deal with locals who understand their market and are available to talk to them about their individual situation”.
“I’ve had relationships with some clients for over 25 years which has transitioned to supporting their adult children’s banking, so I understand the benefit to people to be able to speak directly and shake hands with their business banking manager.”
For some time, business banking has been a key focus in our plan to provide our Members with a quality range of banking products and services. Mr Walker’s appointment is a critical move forward as part of our plan, and he says it’s an exciting time to join the organisation.
“The opportunity to be part of building something centred around relationship banking, especially in regional areas, has given a new lease of life on my career,” he says.
“We have the ability to assess applications on a case by case basis with all the key decision makers located right here in the same building in Townsville, so conversations and solutions are developed quickly providing streamlined response times.
Mr Walker says small to medium enterprises are the backbone of the local economy, and the right banking support can be critical to their success.
“It’s important to understand what their needs are and help find solutions,” he says.
“Getting access to capital can be daunting, and I know how to have those conversations and help liaise with the Member and their key stakeholders to go on this journey together to build a successful business.”
Queensland Country Bank’s business banking services have already been gaining attention, with our Business Online Saver Account recognised as a winner in the 2021 Mozo Experts Choice Awards for Bank Accounts and Savings.
As part of our organisation’s commitment to business banking services, training is being rolled out to staff in branches so they are equipped to deal with our Members’ business banking enquiries.
“Business owners are typically short on time, so having the ability of being able to walk into one of our 28 local branches, even on a Saturday morning, and get the information they need remains a key commitment for Queensland Country Bank.”
