Since a toddler, Charlie has lived and breathed rugby league. Spending many week nights and weekends playing for the local Beaudesert Kingfishers Junior Rugby League team. So, when he was forced to quit playing the game he loved his whole world changed.
Throughout his time playing his beloved sport, Charlie endured multiple concussions. Following doctors’ advice to hang up his footy boots Charlie was unable to finish the season out with his team.
When our Beaudesert Branch Manager, Ken Noble, heard the club wanted to do something to lift Charlie’s spirits, our team were quick on the case to organise something special for this young sportsman.
“As a proud sponsor of the North Queensland Cowboys we reached out to them and they organised a video message from Gavin Cooper and a signed jersey to present to Charlie,” says Mr Noble.
“It’s been absolutely devastating for Charlie, but it’s a true credit to the person he is and his love of rugby that he has stayed involved in the game by going into coaching and refereeing.”
“We’ve built a relationship with the Kingfishers over the years as a sponsor and they do all their banking with us, so we’ve really enjoyed playing a part in this surprise.”
North Queensland Cowboys General Manager Commercial, Ross Aldridge says the club and Gavin Cooper were more than happy to do what they could to support Charlie.
“Our members and fans are incredibly important to us, so we are proud to be involved in this special gesture,” says Mr Aldridge.
“We are inspired by Charlie’s continued passion for the game and we’ll be cheering him on.”
