School Savvy NQ is an initiative which provides pre-loved uniforms and basic stationery to families who are struggling financially, at an extremely low cost.
The official launch of this year’s School Savvy NQ was held Wednesday 18 November in the Townsville pop-up shop location. The launch of this wonderful initiative brought supporters together and showcased how businesses can spread awareness and back this amazing project.
As School Savvy’s Gold Partner, we’re committed to supporting the community that supports us by providing some much needed man power to support this initiative.
“Education is such a valuable part of the fabric of our society, and all students deserve access to school supplies to enable them to participate in all activities, which flows on to better employment outcomes that benefit our community,” Chief Executive Officer, Aaron Newman said.
Three pop-up shops in North Queensland will be held in January 2021, where all items will be made available at between one to five dollars for a bundled pack, with every sale being 100 per cent reinvested into the program.
Stephen Burrowes Director of Centacare NQ Client Services said “School Savvy NQ is calling on the community to donate uniforms, school supplies and monetary amounts, which is then used to purchase stationery supplies commonly found on back to school booklists.”
This is the first year School Savvy will be run in the NQ region, it has already shown success in the Far North and Central Queensland.
“We’re asking for any support the community and local businesses are able to offer us as School Savvy NQ is entirely community funded.”
Steve said for any community members wanting to support School Savvy NQ, the best way to help is by spreading the word and donating any preloved uniforms or school stationery that you can.
Donations can be dropped into the Centacare NQ office at 410 Ross River Road, Cranbrook, School Savvy NQ branded donation bins located in your local Vinnies shop across the region as well as the following Queensland Country Bank branches:
