Queensland Country are celebrating 40 years of servicing the Burdekin community’s banking and health insurance needs, with Board Members travelling to Ayr today to commemorate the milestone with staff, Members and special guests.
Chief Executive Officer Aaron Newman says the member-owned organisation has a strong commitment to regional Queensland, and it was a fitting occasion for the Board to change the location of their monthly meeting from Townsville to Ayr. The meeting will coincide with a celebration in the Queensland Country Ayr branch, with special guests to include the Mayor, Councillors, former branch managers and Members.
“The Burdekin community have been great supporters of Queensland Country, so opportunities like today where we can bring more of our team to the community to meet with members are very important,” Mr Newman said.
“One of our guests today, Allison Nichols, opened her account with us on the 1st May, 1979, and her husband Dan was instrumental in the opening of the branch in Ayr.
“Over half of the Burdekin population choose to do their banking and health insurance with us. We have branches based in Ayr and Home Hill because we recognise that face to face service is still important to people in regional areas.”
Mr Newman said the organisation continued to grow its support of the region and had invested over $200,000 into the community through sponsorships and grants in the past 10 years alone.
“We are the new naming rights sponsor of the 2019 Burdekin Water Festival and will continue to support the Home Hill Harvest Festival this year too,” he said.
“We are proud to be celebrating our 40th anniversary in the Burdekin and look forward to a long and successful future supporting our Members with their banking and health insurance needs.”
