What is IDVerse?
IDVerse is an AI powered and secure identification system through Equifax. It lets us confirm your identity by checking details of a valid Australian ID document (physical Driver’s Licence or Passport) without you having to come in and meet us face to face. We use this to reduce fraudulent applications.
What if my name doesn’t match my Australian identity documents?
Example: Driver’s licence has my surname before marriage and I want to open an account in my married name.
Unfortunately, you may not be able to complete the online ID verification or open an account step instantly in this case. The ID document and account name must match.
You can visit your nearest branch and provide a certified copy of your formal marriage certificate or change of name certificate issued in Australia.
Why do I have to verify my ID?
We are required by law to verify an individual’s identity prior to providing access to our products and services. This ensures that those who apply for our products are who they say they are. This not only protects the wider public from identity fraud, but also limits the ability of fraudsters to open accounts with us.
How does IDVerse work?
It is a simple online process that starts with an SMS (this is the only time we will send you a link within an SMS).
- Step one: SMS – An SMS with the online verification link will be sent to your mobile number that was used for the start of the application.
- Step two: ID – Take a photo of either your Driver’s Licence or your Australian Passport, from which we will read your details from.
- Step three: Selfie – Then you take a selfie, which we will match against the photo from your ID Document used in Step two.
- Step four: Submit – Lastly you check that the pre-filled details are correct and submit!

What happens if I fail the online ID verification step?
If your ID verification fails, you will not be able to move forward with completing your application online. You can refresh your browser and reattempt.
What happens if I have technical difficulties while completing the remaining online Membership application?
If your ID has been verified online, our Contact Centre staff will be able to pick up your pending application from where you dropped off and finish it for you. Please keep in mind that if you do not pass ID verification you will not being able to proceed with the application.

Can I complete the online ID verification more than once?
Yes. If your online ID verification attempt fails or is interrupted for any reason, you can follow the link again to restart the online verification process.
What device can I use?
While the Online Membership Application can be commenced and completed on any device, such as a laptop, the online ID verification step can only be done on any smartphone that has a camera.
Once the ID verification has been successfully completed, your browser will refresh to allow you to move to the next step and complete the application process.
Is IDVerse secure and is my privacy protected?
Your privacy is always our top priority. When completing an ID verification using IDVerse, a secure connection is established between this verification service and your device.

Will I need to be connected to the internet to complete the online ID verification?
Yes. Your device will need to be connected to the internet to be able to communicate with our systems.

It takes less than 5 minutes from start to finish, and you will be provided with a result as soon as you are done.
