Confirming Payments with Confidence

Feel secure when transferring money.

With scams and fraud on the rise, it’s more important than ever to feel confident that your money is going where you intend it to. That’s why we use Confirmation of Payee — a service designed to give you extra peace of mind when making transfers.

What is Confirmation of Payee?

Confirmation of Payee is a security feature designed to help protect you from scams and mistaken transfers. It gives you greater confidence that your money is going where you intend it to.

This service checks the account name, BSB, and account number you enter during a transfer, and compares them with the details held by the recipient’s bank. It’s part of a broader industry-wide initiative to make digital payments safer and more trustworthy.

How It Works

When you begin a transfer and enter the recipient's account name, BSB and account number, Confirmation of Payee automatically runs a check in real time. You'll then see one of four outcomes:

Match

The name and account details align.

You can feel confident proceeding with the transfer.

Close Match icon

Close Match

The details are similar but not exact.

Double-check before continuing.

No Match icon

The details don’t align.

It’s safest to stop and review the information.

What You’ll See

  • For business accounts, you’ll see the account name even if it’s not a match.
  • For personal accounts, the name is only shown if it’s a match or close match — otherwise, it’s hidden to protect privacy.

Why It Matters

This service helps you:

  • Avoid mistaken transfers to the wrong account.
  • Spot potential scams before transferring money.
  • Make informed decisions — you can go ahead, double-check, or cancel the transfer.

Your Money, Your Confidence

Confirmation of Payee is part of a broader industry-wide initiative to make digital payments safer. It’s not just about security — it’s about giving you the confidence to move your money with trust.
